Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.
  • In June 2024, the NTP for Sumatera Utara Province (2018=100) was recorded at 133.22 or an increase of 0.83 percent compared to the NTP in May 2024, which was 132.12.
  • The increase in NTP for June 2024 was caused by an increase in the NTP of three subsectors, namely the NTP for the Food Crops subsector by 0.32 percent, the NTP for the Horticulture subsector by 2.78 percent, and the NTP for the People's Plantation Crops subsector by 1.06 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP for two other subsectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP for the Livestock subsector by 0.14 percent and the NTP for the Fisheries subsector by 2.03 percent.
  • The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for Sumatera Utara Province in June 2024 was 133.33 or an increase of 0.65 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
  • The Grain Producer Price Survey in Sumatera Utara in June recorded 75 observations of grain sales transactions in 13 selected districts with the composition mostly dominated by Milled Dry Grain (GKG) with 33 observations (44.00%), and Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) with 29 observations (38.67%), followed by Quality Outer Grain with 13 observations (17.33%).
  • At the farmer level in June, the highest price for grain was IDR. 7,900 per kg comes from quality GKG grain of the Ciherang variety in Serdang Bedagai Regency. Meanwhile, the lowest price is IDR. 5,300 per kg comes from Quality Outer Grain of Ciherang and Inpari 32 varieties, GKP quality grain of Inpari 32 variety in Simalungun Regency.
  • At the milling level in June, the highest grain price was IDR. 8,000 per kg comes from quality GKG grain of the Ciherang variety in Serdang Bedagai Regency. Meanwhile, the lowest price is IDR. 5,350 per kg comes from Quality Outer Grain of Ciherang and Inpari 32 varieties, GKP quality grain of Inpari 32 variety in Simalungun Regency.
  • The average price of grain for the Milled Dry Grain (GKG) quality group at the farmer level decreased by 1.55 percent from Rp. 6,878 per kg in May to Rp. 6,771 per kg in June. Meanwhile, the quality group for Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) experienced an increase of 0.56 percent from the previous month, namely from Rp. 5,874 per kg to Rp. 5,907 per kg.
  • The average price of grain for the Milled Dry Grain (GKG) quality group at the milling level decreased by 0.98 percent from Rp. 7,044 per kg in May to Rp. 6,975 per kg in June. The quality group of Harvested Dry Grain (GKP) also experienced a decrease of 0.39 percent from the previous month, namely from Rp. 6,067 per kg to Rp. 6,043 per kg.
