Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs.
  • In January 2024, the NTP for North Sumatra Province (2018=100) was recorded at 129.16 or an increase of 0.09 percent compared to the NTP in December 2023, which was 129.04.
  • The increase in NTP in January 2024 was caused by an increase in the NTP of three subsectors, namely the NTP in the Food Crops subsector by 0.43 percent, the NTP in the Horticulture subsector by 0.11 percent, and the NTP in the Livestock subsector by 0.75 percent. Meanwhile, the NTP of two other subsectors experienced a decline, namely the NTP of the People's Plantation Crops subsector by 0.10 percent and the NTP of the Fisheries subsector by 0.91 percent.
  • The Agricultural Household Business Exchange Rate (NTUP) for North Sumatra Province in January 2024 was 127.91 or decreased by 0.19 percent compared to the previous month's NTUP.
