Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) against the price index paid by farmers (Ib).

• FTT is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.

• In July 2020, the North Sumatra Province NTP (2018 = 100) was recorded at 106.84 or an increase of 1.63 percent compared to the June 2020 NTP of 105.13.

• The increase in FTT in July 2020 was due to the increase in FTT in three subsectors, namely FTT of the Farmers Plantation Sub-sector by 3.45 percent, FTT of the Livestock subsector by 0.79 percent, and FTT of the Fisheries Subsector by 1.28 percent. Whereas the NTP of the Food Crop subsector fell by 0.63 percent, and the NTP of the Horticultural Plants subsector decreased by 0.11 percent.

• Changes in the Household Consumption Index (IKRT) reflect the rural inflation / deflation rate. In July 2020, rural deflation occurred in North Sumatra by 0.09 percent.

• North Sumatra Province Farmers Exchange Rate (NTUP) in July 2020 was 106.84, an increase of 1.49 percent compared to NTUP in the previous month.
