Abstract

EXPORT
• The value of exports through the port of loading in the Sumatera Utara region in March 2020 decreased compared to February 2020, from US $ 684.01 million to US $ 641.38 million or decreased by 6.23 percent. When compared with March 2019 Sumatera Utara exports decreased by 2.56 percent.
• The largest decrease in export value in March 2020 occurred in the animal / vegetable fats and oils amounting to US $ 57.83 million (-20.41%). While the group of goods that experienced the largest increase in export value of Sumatera Utara in March 2020 against February 2020 was a group of various chemical products amounting to US $ 10.29 million (17.42%).
• Exports to the United States in March 2020 were the largest at US $ 79.16 million, followed by China at US $ 56.29 million and Japan at US $ 42.66 million with the contribution of the three reaching 27.77 percent.
• According to the group of main export destinations in March 2020, exports to the Asian region (outside ASEAN) were the largest with a value of US $ 178.69 (27.86%).

IMPORT
• Import value through Sumatera Utara in March 2020 based on CIF (cost, insurance & freight) of US $ 336.01 million, or an increase of 5.70 percent compared to February 2020 which reached US $ 317.88 million. When compared with the same month in the previous year, the value of imports decreased by 12.39 percent.
• Import value by category of use of goods in March 2020 compared to February 2020, capital goods rose by 23.84 percent, raw / auxiliary materials rose by 0.50 percent and consumption goods increased by 46.01 percent.
• In March 2020, the group of goods that experienced the highest increase in import value was plastic and plastic goods by US $ 6.94 million (33.62%). The group that experienced the highest decline in import value was mineral fuels of US $ 18.88 million (-37.78%).
• March 2020 import value from China was the largest at US $ 69.93 million with a contribution of 20.81 percent of total Sumatera Utara imports, followed by Malaysia at US $ 41.88 million (12.46%) and the United States at US $ 30 18 million (8.98%).
